Indian Ocean and Southeast Asia Meeting
Date: 25th April 2010
Time: 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Venue: The Kala Academy (Art Gallery)
A special meeting will be organised during the 30th Sea Turtle Symposium in Goa, India for delegates from the Indian Ocean and SE Asian region (including Papua New Guinea).
Purpose: The purpose of the meeting is to show case work that is being undertaken in the region, to identify challenges associated with sea turtle conservation and identify region wide solutions to these environmental challenges.
In line with this year’s symposium theme of The world of turtles, the Indian Ocean and SE Asian regional meeting specifically aims to create an opportunity for building communication and networking among people who work with turtles at local and regional scales.
The specific goal of this regional meeting is to provide an opportunity for people from each major stakeholder group to meet and discuss issues such as nesting beach management, bycatch, migration, and social/economic/ and cultural aspects of marine turtle management and conservation that is specific to the Indian Ocean and SE Asian region.
We would like to invite all conservationists, researchers, managers and concerned individuals that work with marine turtles in the Indian Ocean and SE Asian the region to attend this pre-STS regional meeting.
